Guidelines when booking and attending retreats
-
Is the retreat open to everyone? All retreats are open to adults aged 18 and above. There are specific retreats for children aged 6 - 12 (Camp for Joy), and also for the youth aged 13 to 21 (Youth Retreat). The Center welcomes individuals from all sects and religion, ethnicity and nationality.
-
How do I book a retreat? It's easy to book a retreat. Find the retreat that speaks to you. More information on the retreat is written after the title, including date (s) for the retreat (s). You can register online or you may also call the center. To register online, follow the website prompts - it might ask you to click the title or the date. You will be directed to our registration form, fill out the required fields and click submit. You will then receive a confirmation email regarding your registration. Check your email. It's important to go through this email as it contains important details like what to expect, what to wear, and bank-transfer details for your contribution to confirm your attendance. For retreats that require contribution, simply make the necessary bank transfers and confirmation email to secure your slot. Also ensure you calendar the retreat on your personal calendar to keep you reminded. Please arrive at the venue 15 to 30 minutes ahead so you can rest, take some refreshment and get familiarized with the venue.
-
What if I have to cancel booking? An early advise from you would be appreciated to allow other interested parties to take your place. If a bank-transfer had been made for the retreat, this is the opportunity for us to discuss next steps.
-
Can I come for just a part of the retreat? For the benefit of all participants, we ask that everyone commit to attending the entire retreat, arriving from the beginning and staying until the end. Your wholehearted commitment supports your fellow retreatants and expresses respect for the retreat teachers and staff who are committed to being there and freely give their time and energy to serve the welfare of all.
-
Can I stay extra days, before or after the retreat?"You will need to contact the Retreat Center residents for this arrangement as there are also other groups coming for other retreats which may not be listed in the website.
-
What to wear, what to bring, what to avoid"Our meditation requires no special athletic attire or mats. Comfortable clothing and footwear will do. We appreciate any support to maintain a spiritual atmosphere inside the center. As such, modest clothing covering knees and shoulders is required. Please avoid sleeveless, shorts, cutoffs and minis. Warm accessories like a shawl or jacket are good to have, as the temperature in Tagaytay City drop in the morning and early evening any time of the year. Bring a pen and notebook for your personal introspection. For overnight retreats, accommodation includes clean beddings, a pillow and a blanket. Do remember to bring your towel and personal toiletries.
-
What is the accommodation like?We offer simple and comfortable SAME-GENDER accommodation. Male participants are roomed together, female participants are roomed together. Same goes for couples coming for the retreat. Private rooms have their own attached bathroom, and the room is shared between two or three participants. Bigger groups can use the clean spacious dorms with the toilet-shower area adjacent to it. Rooms and dorms have big windows to refresh you with that cool Tagaytay breeze. Accommodation are on the second and third floor of the Center. An elevator is available for those who need this facility.
-
Can I request for a single room accommodation? If you feel it is absolutely necessary to have a single room, please inquire about this when booking. We will gladly accommodate your request if a room is available, however you might need to pay the other space equivalent to one person.
